About Us
The Happy Train is a business unit of the family-company "Alianthos", founded by Josef Vardakis in Plakias, Crete at 1980 and focuses on tourist services. The Happy Train, a toy-like train making sightseeing tours, was an briliant idea of Josef's son Nikos, who is interested in alternative tourist business activities. The Happy Train made its first steps in the superb area of Plakias in 1998, making amazing tours through the beautiful beaches, the countryside and the traditional villages of the area. These tours were very popular to all guests of the tourist area and especially children. This unexpected success of the train, led us to develop a similar tourist service in Athens. Since 2007, our Happy Trains offer amazing sightseeing tours in one of the unique sights in the world and universal symbols of the classical spirit and civilization: the historical center of Athens, the ancient monuments and masterpieces as well as the hill of Acropolis with the Parthenon.

Our Personnel
In Happy Train, our staff is competent and multilingual. We have lots of experience in guiding tours, and will provide you with an enjoyable and safe sightseeing tour in the historical center of Athens. All our employees speak English and Greek and will give you all information and tips you need and much more. Fast and friendly customer service is our highest priority. This is Alianthos's commitment to customer satisfaction. A commitment you can count on day in and day out.

Our activities in tourism
Alianthos initially focused on Car Rental in Crete and started with a small office and just 10 cars in Plakias, but in short time expanded rapidly in the island, because of our reliability to provide a first class service combined with competitive prices. During last years, Alianthos developed a network of branches and service points in Athens, Crete and Rhodes. Alianthos extended its business activities in tourist accomodation, and we developed the "Alianthos Beach Hotel", a beautiful resort just a few meters away from an amazing beach of Plakias. The love for the nature and the animals, lead Nikos Vardakis, Josef 'son to create the "Alianthos Crete Horseback Riding" in 2004, an amazing Farm and Stables in Plakias as known as "the place to ride" in Crete.
